Welcome to

the James Nayler Foundation

archive site

Sadly the James Nayler Foundation charity has had to close.  This web site will remain in place as an archive site for JNF published materials, in particular the proceedings of its past conferences which form a remarkable record of radical thought in this area.

The idea on which the charity which founded, takes it for granted that all mental pain arises from obsolete childhood trauma which everyone else knows are now over –  once the sufferer sees this, they go.   The model is simple — children growing up require a sound parental attachment. Where this attachment is robust, damage from childhood trauma is ephemeral — where it is not, then the long term effects of trauma closely resemble those of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

In effect, the individual becomes ‘frozen’ at an infantile stage – such that survival strategies painfully and deeply learnt in infancy continue unabated, and essentially unseen and therefore unthought through, into adult life.  Trustworthy adult support is needed to facilitate adult reasoning so that the truth about today’s reality can be established.  Once adult survival strategies are in place, and being fully relied upon, then all symptoms of disorderly socialisation evaporate.

These ideas will be pursued by other means.– – -
